Photographing at Wilde Lodge is always a pleasure. I look forward to going back every year.

Not too far from me on the Welsh Border is a lovely wedding venue, Wilde Lodge..
Wilde Lodge has a special place in my heart; for one, it was the first venue I shot at, and from day one the team have been so wonderful to work with.
I'm not sure what it is, maybe it's being quite rural, but the vibe of the place on a wedding day is a great balance of relaxed and hyper energy. It's a place you feel at home.
From when I get there I usually make my way round everyone saying hello. I'll then go to the main house where the parties are getting ready. The girls are usually round the big dining table with makeup and prosecco everywhere, and the guys are hanging around waiting for their self- timed 5-minute time slot to get ready. I'll be getting around taking photos while sorting out flat lays and venue shots.
The ceremony can be in 4 places around the venue. The Long barn, Outdoor barn, The front Lawn or the Motte and Bailey if they fancy a walk. They are all great and have there advantages, but my favourite would either be the Motte and Bailey or the front lawn.
Usually, everyone after hangs on the front lawn for garden games and drinks (Cocktail Hour). A time for the bride and groom to be bombarded with greetings and hugs. I try to grab them for a quick post-ceremony photo shoot. They are usually quite thankful for the brief moment of peace away from the party. In this time, I would also get group photos, usually on the front lawn.
The time comes and the guests a called for food in the marquee across the courtyard from the long barn. In here, you'll find the tables decorated to the couples taste. Fairy lights, disco ball, and decor hang from the ceiling. There is the added addition of a bar being a few foot away from your seat, which some will like.

The team throughout the day but especially this time, always smash it and get food to people promptly. I usually get to sample the food from the day, which is a bonus.
This will also be the time for speeches.
Dinner is done people are full, but the party isn't over. I usually get everyone out the tent for a group photo. This gives Wilde lodge time to switch the tables round for the reception set up. You'll find me lugging some old pair of step ladders from the barn to gain height to get everyone in the shot and 3,2,1,cheeeese..

Reception is shortly on it's way once the band have finished setting up, and their dinner....
I'll use this time to drag the couple away for some sunset shots on the hills. We either stay on the hill and admire the view, or we take a little stroll down to the river. Either one we choose is beautiful. I like to let them have a moment with each other and just be present and take the day in.
Another bit of peace and tranquility for the couple before they go into first dance and sing the night away. I'll be there on the dance floor capturing memories and peoples best moves.

Thanks Wilde Lodge and I look forward to seeing you soon!
